“Infinite Cantabria” is the name given by Okuda San Miguel to his artistic intervention in the Faro de Ajo (Cantabria, Northern Spain) at the end of August 2020. Born just a few kilometers from the lighthouse, Okuda reflected the natural wealth and cultural diversity of his homeland on this iconic figure while respecting its original function as a maritime signal. The first of its kind, as it is the only lighthouse to be artistically intervened in Spain, Okuda’s work attracted more than 45,000 visitors during the first month after the painting.
“Infinite Cantabria” marks another milestone in Okuda’s career and has again generated a dialogue between the more traditional approach to art in public spaces, and the renewed and more transformative vision that the artist promotes.
